G'day and welcome to Australia Zoo, home of The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin - CRIKEY she's a little bewdy!

Just one hour north of Brisbane, Australia Zoo offers a full day of wildlife adventure. Open since 1970 as Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park, this unique zoological facility is home to over 1000 animals on nearly 60 acres of natural bushland. If you're in the area - you MUST visit Australia Zoo!

Steve and Terri Irwin eat, sleep and live for wildlife. Their love, passion, and devotion is to educate and share with the world the magnificent - often threatened or sometimes threatening - wildlife. They believe their job in this world is to bring misunderstood and feared animals (as well as the cute and cuddlies) right into your house, so that you can share and learn about the world's wildlife

Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter Beerwah Sunshine Coast Australia

The early years of the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park, now Australia Zoo, were total wildlife experiences. All of the animals in the park at this time were captured by Steve and his father, and together they spent all of their spare time on field trips - often in the most remote areas of the Australian wilderness - capturing, observing and studying Aussie critters. Steve's father, Bob, is recognised as a legendary herpetologist, pioneering snake and crocodile capture techniques.

Before Steve was ten, Bob was spending more and more time teaching Steve how to jump and restrain crocodiles and deal with the world's deadliest snakes without causing them stress and at the same time minimising the chances of being bitten. Growing up in the park, which was opened in 1970 by Steve's parents, Bob and Lyn Irwin, there was never a dull moment!

The daily demonstrations take on a whole new dimension when the keepers actually interact with the wildlife, from giant Snakes to hungry Crocodiles. Whether you would like to see the Otters catching their own fish, or meet them up close and personal, plan on spending the entire day to experience all the full-on action and adventure! You may even get up close and personal with some of our wandering wildlife as keepers introduce you to snakes, koalas, camels, tortoises, alligators, lizards and more!
